What is Microneedling with PRP?
Your own plasma, put back to work
Microneedling with platelet-rich plasma — also known as the
“vampire facial” — involves drawing blood from your arm,
separating out the platelet-rich plasma, and applying that plasma back onto
your face.
The microneedling itself uses short, fine needles, ranging from 0.5 to 2.5
millimetres. Rest assured, they feel like tiny pinpricks and only go skin-deep.
Those pricks “injure” the skin just enough to prompt it to heal
itself by producing elastin and collagen — and, crucially, they let the
PRP penetrate deeper than it otherwise could.
Why combine the two?
Because they do different jobs. Needling triggers your skin’s own repair
response; PRP carries a large concentration of growth factors that help tissue
heal and repair. Together they treat a wider range of skin issues than either
would alone.
The treatment boosts the turnover of skin cells, so fresher skin comes through sooner.

What is the Process?
Four steps, start to finish
Microneedling with PRP is administered here in our medical spa. Here is exactly
what happens on the day.

The blood draw
The first step is the initial blood draw, taken from your arm. It is
relatively painless and over quickly.

The centrifuge
Your blood is placed in a centrifuge, which separates the plasma and
platelets from the red blood cells. That concentrated plasma is your PRP.
03
Numb, then needle
A topical numbing cream is applied to the face to manage any discomfort of
the needling. Once it is active, the microneedling is carried out.
04
The PRP goes on
With the microneedling complete, the PRP is rubbed into the skin —
reaching deeper than it could have before.
